Myanmar’s military launched an artillery strike on Htantabin Township in Bago Region in the early morning hours, killing a 70-year-old woman and seriously injuring three others, including a child, according to the Taungoo District Resistance Battalion 2. The strike targeted a civilian area with no reported military presence. Bago Region has experienced a significant increase in military shelling of civilian areas in recent months as resistance forces have expanded operations in the region. Local humanitarian groups have warned that the elderly and children bear a disproportionate toll from indiscriminate artillery use.
